Our Apulian Masseria
Don Sante masseria and agritourism in Puglia
Nestled among the greenery of a vast olive grove stands the farmhouse (masseria), built during the 18th and 19th centuries by Sante Conti, a wealthy landowner from whom the property takes its name. Like the neighboring farmhouses, Masseria Don Sante was established out of the owner’s need to ensure better management and cultivation of the surrounding lands. The estate was entrusted to farming families and tenant farmers who made the masseria their home, shaping their daily lives around the rhythms of the land and its cultivation.
At the end of the 19th century, a small olive mill was built to produce a fine-quality olive oil. Initially intended to meet the needs of the farming community, the oil was often offered or sold to the many travelers passing through the area.
The fertility of the land and the healthy climate are praised in an ancient Latin inscription carved into a wall, bearing witness to the farmers’ hospitality toward travelers who wished to stay for a few days in a place renowned for its sense of well-being and tranquility.
Carefully restored while preserving the traditional features of a typical Apulian masseria, the property offers its guests comfortable rooms and fully equipped accommodations complete with kitchenettes. Everything is set within a peaceful oasis, far from the bustle of city life.
Guests can enjoy a direct and friendly relationship with the hosting family, who are always available to provide information about the surrounding area, recommend scenic routes, and suggest excursions and activities.
Just a few kilometers away lies a charming coastal area, characterized by a varied shoreline of unspoiled beaches and picturesque coves where you can soak up the warm Apulian sun. For families and nature lovers, we recommend a visit to the Zoosafari in Fasano, Italy’s largest wildlife park, featuring numerous attractions for both children and adults.
Those who wish to immerse themselves in local traditions can enjoy the events of the “Giugno Fasanese” (Fasano June Festival), with its historical reenactments, as well as the many local food festivals and district celebrations that enliven summer evenings with entertainment, culture, and conviviality.
Your stay will be enriched by a rich and flavorful culinary experience.
Naturally, we are talking about Traditional Apulian Cuisine, rooted in the rural heritage of the region and based on genuine farm-to-table ingredients, many of which are grown directly on the estate. These fresh products are expertly transformed into generous and flavorful dishes that celebrate local traditions. In the welcoming and characteristic restaurant dining room, where a crackling fireplace warms guests during the winter months, you will be able to enjoy a variety of delicious homemade specialties, including rustic vegetable appetizers, fresh salads, local cheeses and cured meats, the iconic “orecchiette with turnip greens,” a wide selection of meat dishes prepared from locally raised livestock, and finally, the freshest seasonal fruit and irresistible homemade desserts. All of this is accompanied by the warmth, courtesy, and attentive hospitality of the hosting family.
A truly unique experience that we highly recommend to families, couples seeking a romantic getaway, and, of course, true food lovers.
